This is one of my fathers' violins. He was a member of the Berlin Philharmony during the time that
Furtwengler was their conductor, betw. 1922 and 1945) . He also taught violin at the Mannheim
Music Conservatory in Germany ( the same school btw that Mozart taught for a while).
As I cannot tell you much about this violin I only wanted to point out that my father seemed
to have
known when to acquire a good or interesting instrument.
The violin measures 21 inches in length,
the body is 13 inches, the ribs are ca. 1.5 inches,
and the fingerboard is 9.8 inches long
The violin comes with a
very old case
but
without a bow.
I am only an amateur on the violin, which is
why
I added those fine-tuning pins, well realizing how destructive to the "old violin image' they look.
